TNC: Adirondacks

In 2007, the Nature Conservancy made its largest single purchase of 161,000 acres of timberlands within the Adirondack State Park - previously owned by Finch Pruyn & Company. Adirondack State Park has a long and storied role with American ideas of nature, wilderness, and outdoor recreation. Founded in 1892, it is 800,000 acres larger than the sum of the Grand Canyon, Yellowstone, and Glacier National Parks - combined.
